Tents. Yep, when they said camping they meant camping. In 1931 there was no place to buy a Hy-Lake T-shirt, there was apparently little need for them. Four pine bunk beds, eight mattresses, all the comforts of home. (Click picture to enlarge)
Canoes to Nashville was one of the first adventure ideas sure to get regional newspaper coverage as well as create a personal memory. It might be possible for one of these adventurers to still be alive today and remember the 1931 trip. It is more probable that a grandson or granddaughter might have heard the story and remember. Speed. It might be the early 30’s but a boy needs a Rocket. This made water skiing possible, a new thing just invented but extremely popular with the guys. It was also great fun on a truck inner tube. (Click picture to enlarge)
